This grist mill was operated by Moses B. Jewett (1822-1890) and his sons, Moses Leverett Jewett (1851-1920) and John Lewis Jewett (1861-1940). It was located on Gardiner’s Creek also known as Jewetts Creek at Burden NB, part of Prince William. In addition to the grist mill, the Jewett family also operated a sawmill and a blacksmith shop at this location. A freshet washed out the dam in the 1920s and the blacksmith shop ceased operation in 1928. The photo and was probably taken in the 1890s.
