This structure, originally known as Harvey Presbyterian Church, was built to replace the previous building that was destroyed by fire in 1895. The church became known as the Harvey United Church in 1925 following the controversial split between Harvey Presbyterians following the founding of the United Church of Canada.

The property had been the site of of a second Presbyterian Church built in 1856 as a result of a split within the Presbyterian congregation that attended the first Presbyterian church across from the current Knox Presbyterian Church.  The second church burned down in 1896.

The name of the United church was chosen to be St. Andrews in 1931.
