Taylor Hall

This large building was built by John Taylor after the railway went through Harvey.  It was located in a field bordering on the shore of Harvey Lake.  The upper part was to be used as a public hall while stores were located on the lower part.  In time, it was used for many public purposes.  Church services were initially held there until a church was built nearby.   Groups including the Ladies Sewing Circle, the Society of The Sons of Temperance, and the Christian Endeavor Society met in the Taylor Hall. Many events took place there like receptions and the annual Harvey Fair. It was also used as a temporary high school for grades 9 to 11 in 1945 until the permanent Harvey Regional High School was ready in 1947.

Unfortunately, in 1990, the hall was deemed past its usefulness and demolished with a controlled fire.
