Drama by the Water

Train tracks run beside Cherry Hill on the edge of Harvey Lake. In 1894, a dramatic and tragic event happened along that stretch resulting in a fatality. The Daily Telegraph reported that, on January 14, 1894, Canadian Pacific Railroad plow engine Number 570 was rounding a curve at Harvey New Brunswick when it struck a huge snow drift and left the rails, crashing through the ice, landing as depicted in this artist’s rendering of the event. George Henry, a C.P.R. employed fireman, was in the cab and could not escape, dying at the scene. Source: Daily Telegraph, January 15, 1894
