Undated photo of the former home of David Glendenning (1840-1918) and Jane (Atchison) Glendenning (1838-1916). The home was located on the northeast side of the railroad tracks in the centre of the present day Village of Harvey.
In 1868, David Glendenning assumed the role of postmaster in Harvey. He had arrived in Harvey as the first licensed school teacher in 1862, hailing from Galloway, Kent County. In May of 1898, David retired as postmaster, and his daughter Mina M. Glendenning took over as the post mistress, holding the position for 40 years. At the time, the post office was located in the building now located next to the railway tracks across the street from W.W.E. Smith Country Store.
