Heading south from Longs Creek along Route 3, Newmarket was settled about 1839 by immigrants from Northern Ireland. Smithfield is located close by.
Photo: This tin type photo was found in a 150 year old Smithfield farm home during renovations. Tin type photos were invented in the 1850s and were in use until the 1900s.
