The HRH&HA Wall of Recognition

The Harvey Regional Heritage & Historical Association Wall of Recognition acknowledges people from the Harvey region who have in some way become well known for their contributions.

The names and photos of the Wall of Recognition are people from the Harvey Region who have in some way become well known for their contributions.  Those contributions could stem from their chosen profession whether it be in the arts, science, business, education etc. or could have benefited the local Harvey region and its residents through volunteering, business, and the pursuit of the history of the Harvey region.

The wall was first established as the Wall of Note in 2011 by the newly formed Harvey Regional Heritage & Historical Association.  Several deserving community members were inducted at that time. As time went on, John Robison became a driving force and the wall was renamed the Wall of Recognition.  Criteria were updated and more inductees voted in. A physical wall was then installed by Flexiway Products Ltd.  in the Harvey Memorial Community Centre in the Village of Harvey with generous support from RBC, 6 Colour Copy and  donations to Harvey Heritage in memory of Gerry Piercy.

On October 20, 2018 an inaugural ceremony was held in recognition of the 15 inductees at the time.  Over 100 people were in attendance including the Mayor of Harvey and Royal Bank of Canada representatives.  The event was catered by the local Eastern Star Chapter.

The fifteen deserving inductees are in alphabetical order:

The Harvey Regional Heritage & Historical Association thank the Royal Bank of Canada, the Gerry Piercy family, and 6 Colour Copy for contributing to the funding of the wall; Flexiway Products Ltd. for the design, construction, and installation of the wall; the Harvey Memorial Community Centre for its generous provision of space; to Eastern Star for catering the inaugural event; and to the families of the inductees for providing information and photographs.  Special recognition goes to John Robison who conceived the idea of having a formal wall that would be placed in a public place.

Further nominations will be solicited in the future.
